Young actress Maja Salvador denied reports that she is into a serious relationship with any of her suitors.

Recently rumors say ABS-CBN's Kapitan Boom Jon Avila is her boyfriend.

"It's not true. Jon and I even said, 'uy tayo na pala', she said.

Jon reportedly apologized to Maja if he misled people into thinking he and the actress are into a romantic relationship.

Maja also denied having a relationship with on-screen partner Rayver Cruz. She said the rumors may be based on being seen with Cruz on a lot of TV projects together.

Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) Season 1 scholar Chad Peralta was also rumored as her latest boyfriend.

She said Chad frequently texts her, asks her to out for dinner although she is not sure if it's a date because the singer Maja said only said dinner.

Chad, Maja said cooks delicious spaghetti, Maja's favorite food.

Maja used to be linked to Carlo Aquino, who was rumored to be her boyfriend.

But the actress expressed surprise. "How can it be? He hasn't even been my boyfriend," she said.

Though they used to text each other, the actress said they have not gotten into a serious relationship.

Maja said she has no communication with Carlo at this time and that she wants to focus her attention on her career first.

Before televiewers got an upclose glimpse of Jon Avila inside Big Brother’s house, he was already attracting a lot of attention — especially from motorists and commuters — with his body beautiful from huge billboards all over the metropolis, endorsing, appropriately enough, Bench underwear.

“But I really dreamed to be an actor even when I was a little boy,” confessed Jon who is half-Irish (his father, Jonathan Mullally, is from London) and half-Filipino (his mother, Teresita dela Cruz, is from Bulacan). He has a sister (older than him). Both of them were born, raised and educated in London. “At St. Helen’s where I finished high school, I did drama for one year. I still have one year to go to finish a course in business, at the Chelmsford College.”

He speaks a good Tagalog and he never forgets to end a sentence with a “po.”

Asked how much of him is Filipino and how much is British, Jon said, “When I’m in England, I’m Filipino. When I’m here, I’m British. Hehehe. My sister and I had a nice upbringing. We lived in a quiet town in a rural area, at the outskirts of London.”

A little “issue” inside Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) has to be cleared: Did Mariel Rodriguez (his housemate) “spurn” Jon in favor of Zanjoe Marudo?

“No, she did not,” explained Jon who will soon be seen in the title role as Kapitan Boom in an ABS-CBN fantaserye with Brazilian model Mariana del Rio (who was romantically linked to Cesar Montano) and in the Star Cinema movie When Love Begins (final title), the first movie together of Aga Muhlach and Anne Curtis written and directed by Joey Javier Reyes. “I kind of backed out. It takes time for me to fall in love. I actually gave way to Zanjoe because I realized that there was something between them.”

Also an endorser of Century Tuna and Active White (the leading distributor of high-quality beauty and wellness products for men and women, with Nadine Samonte and athlete Rachelle Daquis as co-endorsers), Jon stands 6’1”, weighs 178 lbs., and wears medium-size shirt and size-11 shoes. He’s a Virgo (born Sept. 1, 1985).

What kind of food do you avoid?

“Fatty foods and sweets. I stay away from sugar.”

And what kind of food do you prefer?

“Anything grilled. I love cereals; I have more than 10 boxes of cereals at home. My ref is stuffed full with soya milk.”

What part of your body is your favorite?

What about books?

“I try to read books as much as I can. I like fiction and action-adventure.”

Movies?

“Comedies...to keep my spirit up.”

Do you meditate?

“I guess I am — to a certain extent. I’m metrosexual. I’m conscious about what I wear, about my skin. Kailangan sa industry, eh.”

Jon Avila himself confirmed the news that he will play the lead role in the upcoming fantaserye Kapitan Boom, which is expected to air starting April 19 (Saturday).

He will both surprise and shock people with his thunderous arrival this April. A superhero like no other, viewers will be amused by the mighty yet sometimes unlucky Kapitan Boom. Created by the father of Pinoy superheroes Mars Ravelo, ABS-CBN's Komiks introduces the freshest delight of the new generation—though far from being perfect, he has a heart of gold.

During the MYX Music Awards held last March 26 at the Meralco Theater, Jon Avila told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he will playing a character whom he described as a "fumbling superhero."

"I'm playing Kapitan Boom, which is coming out on April 19, tuwing Sabado," says Jon in his characteristic English accent. "It's a fantaserye-comedy-love story all rolled into one. It's a very exciting project because I'm learning new abilities as an actor. Using the harness, fight scenes...it's a very exciting role for me."

When asked to name his leading lady, he gives two names of young actresses: Maja Salvador and Marianna del Rio, the Brazilian girl who is said to be the cause of the major fight between Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz.

Jon excitedly describes the special abilities of Kapitan Boom. "Watch me flying around, fighting crime... I have a super shield, a super boom. I have the ability to fly. I also have three more hidden powers."

Jon, dubbed as the English Stallion during his stint in Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2, is also a member of the ASAP Cover Boys Plus who performs regularly in the Sunday noontime show.

Jon Avila was dubbed as the "English Outcast during the PBB Celebrity Edition 2 last year. He disclosed his difficulty in learning Pilipino. "I'm really going for it. I'm trying to give it a go. But the thing is mahirap i-memorize yung mga Tagalog lines. So, I'm more concentrating na on delivering the lines properly. My acting skills will take a bit... Well, my acting skills are there but the language barrier..."

The model-actor is trying his best though.

"I'm reading komiks. I'm reading tabloids, not on a regular basis. But minsan, hindi ko naintindihan what I'm reading. But it helps to read. My technique... actually, I got told by a studio director na to read komiks, 'tapos you record your voice in the mirror. That's one thing now I'm trying to do every night para I can learn the language.

"It takes practice. The best way it is to speak. Panay ako Tagalog nang Tagalog. I mean. I'm trying to speak my best Tagalog right now. I mean, every time I have a conversation, I practice it naman."

Jon is also happy that he has a lot of relatives here, especially in Bulacan.

"Actually, I'm going tonight to visit them. They're gonna pick me up and take me to Bulacan. I miss my Mom na rin. She's in Bulacan. I'm actually seeing her tonight. She's making kulit na, ‘C'mon visit.' The church is holding a party for me because they supported me through PBB. You know, I want to give something back and I'm gonna stay at the party," he narrated excitedly .

Jon Avila was hesitant at first to reveal his Valentine's date at the launching of the Friendster Fan Profile at Taguig City yesterday afternoon, January 23. But the former Pinoy Big Brother celebrity housemate has something planned for his special girl.

"I'm not sure. I'm thinking, I'm gonna cook. Siguro, in an intimate location," was his short answer.

But how does a heartthrob like Jon woo a girl?

"Sweet text. Just to let them know I'm thinking about them. You know, buy little gifts, you know, like small things, simple things. I appreciate the simple things," he said.

But when pressed if PBB host and ex-special guest housemate Mariel Rodriguez will be Jon's date for the special occasion, Jon hesitated.

"I wanted it to be her. We're still in the process of getting to know each other. It's fun. We're having fun," the 22-year-old model said.

"Everyone has their special someone in their life. I'm not really with anyone at this time." Jon said he is busy with his goal of making the transition from model to actor. "This what I wanted to do in the first place a few years ago. I mean, it's about time na."

Jon Avila evicted from "Pinoy Big Brother" Celebrity Edition 2

A few days before the Big Night of Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2, one of the five remaining celebrity housemates was sanctioned with forced eviction for trying to sabotage the nomination and eviction process.

Last Saturday, December 29, Big Brother instructed the five housemates—Jon Avila, Ruben Gonzaga, Will Devaughn, Riza Santos, and Gaby dela Merced—to choose the person whom they felt was the least deserving to be part of the Big Four. All the housemates dreaded this task and one by one, they refused to nominate someone because they felt that they all deserved to remain and be called the Big Five.

For the second time, Big Brother asked the housemates to choose the person whom they believe does not deserve to be part of the Big Four. While the housemates were talking, Jon asked them: "Should we boycott?" The English Outcast influenced his housemates to have a five-way-tie in the nomination for eviction when he said, "Is everyone thinking what I'm thinking? Five medallions are here, five people here."

This resulted in everyone having a medallion, even though there were those who would have voted differently if they did not agree to conspire with one another. When Big Brother asked Jon about his statement, the model admitted, "I wanted everyone to nominate each other."

It is stated in the PBB rulebook that "direct or indirect discussions about nominations outside the confession room is strictly forbidden." Because of the seriousness of this offense, Big Brother consulted with Endemol, the worldwide owner of the Big Brother reality show franchise, regarding the matter. Big Brother consultant Anuska Ban pointed out that the nomination process is sacred and no one is allowed to discuss it outside the confession room—which Jon violated by manipulating the celebrity housemates into voting for a five-way tie result.

During the January 2 episode of PBB Primetime Edition, Big Brother himself told the housemates that even if they are all emotionally bonded to each other, they must not forget that they entered into a competition that has rules and has an elimination process that they must go through.

It was then announced that Davao comedian Ruben Gonzaga, model-actor Will Devaughn, beauty queen Riza Santos, and race car driver Gaby dela Merced are included in the Big Four who will compete in the Big Night scheduled this weekend.

The 4th Big Placer will get P400,000; the 3rd Big Placer P600,000; and the 2nd Big Placer P1,000,000. Meanwhile, the Big Winner of PBB Celebrity Edition 2 will receive a Sony Bravia, a Goodah business franchise package, a condominium unit at Chateau Valenzuela, and two-million pesos.

Jon Avila, candidate for a Forced Eviction?

Big Brother was disappointed with his residents for they have failed to pass the test of "pagpapakatotoo" when he asked them last Saturday night who does not deserve among them to be in the Celebrity Big Four. As such, he asked them to review the Rule Book to remind them of what will happen when they refuse to follow the nomination process. But instead of learning from their error, they still conspired for a five-way-tie result when they were asked to nominate for the second time something which Jon instigated by influencing them with his statement: "Is everyone thinking what I'm thinking? Five medallions are here. And we're five here." This caused Big Brother's further silent treatment on them.

Then at last, Big Brother called Jon yesterday afternoon to question him about what he said. The gorgeous hunk explained how he didn't mean any disrespect to Kuya and he simply wanted the Celebrity Big Five to stick together. He didn't concur with Big Brother's query that he perpetuated it to protect himself. However, the latter still warned him that he violated a serious decree which prohibits any housemate to influence or sway their voting decisions during nominations. Jon was truly sorry and took full responsibility towards his actions. Nevertheless, he reiterated that Riza's is still his choice to become evicted since a lot of opportunities await her anyway.

Will came next in the hotseat where he felt terrible about joking around just to get laughs when the situation called for a serious reflection. But like Jon, his stand about picking Gaby to be listed for nomination remains the same for she had been in the outside world already. Riza also answered similarly about opting for Jon because he has a booming career to look forward to. Naturally, she refused to vote for Will since she's a lot closer to him.

On the other hand, Ruben and Gaby admitted that they intended to get equal votes for nomination to save the Celebrity Big Five. The comedian from Davao explained that as much as possible he didn't like to put anyone at risk. But if he did the right thing, he would have picked Riza instead of Will which was really questionable in the first place because they're the best of friends. On Gaby's part, she revealed that she was also thinking of what Jon voiced out then. And that she nominated her own bet for the Big Win for the same reason that Ruben presented. Though in truth, she would have voted Riza out for the latter failed to change her introvert ways.

After hearing their explanations, Big Brother eventually forgave their mistakes and allowed them to welcome the New Year with a bang. But as PBB Host Toni Gonzaga noted, Big Brother would still make Jon pay the price of his violation. As to the consequence of it, Kuya consulted with Endemol for the proper action be bestowed on Jon. Will his grave error lead to another forced eviction tomorrow night?
